LBC has many children and young people who come to worship to our church with their families every Sunday. Currently there are around 20 adults involved as teachers and assistants in 8 different groups where about 90 children and young people attend.
The Children’s Ministry groups cater for ages from 0 to late teens. Formal teaching, discussions, games, activities and videos relevant to their age and interests make each Sunday morning an exciting time where teachers and assistants support the children and young people in learning from the Bible and applying the lessons to their young lives in the challenging world in which they live.
If you are looking for a church we hope that LBC can offer you the spiritual support that children, young people and families need today.
The Crèche is available for the 0-2 year olds every Sunday, when the older children go out to their groups. If however you would like to use the crèche before all children go to their groups, then the helpers will be available for you to look after your little one. More info is available here.
The 2 year olds group meet weekly for a time of play, a Bible story, singing and refreshments. We end each session dancing to music and blowing bubbles. As we just moved up from the Crèche and we don’t know how to read, our teachers tell us the Bible story with puppets and other creative activities so that we can learn about Jesus.
We will leave the main service half way through for a special time, packed with activities - including Bible stories, songs, games and much, much more!
5 – 7 yearsFun and lively sessions exploring the Bible with singing, drama, games, quiz’s and craft activities based around a Bible story or teaching theme. We usually finish the session sharing a nice soft drink and a biscuit.
In this group there are two teachers and helpers who work as a team to bring the Bible to life through stories, pictures, discussions and drama. The children talk about their experiences and about the characters and situations relating to the stories they hear. It is a time for sharing and looking at the way different people have responded to God and how this has affected their lives. We talk about the ‘ups-and-downs’ that can happen but most of all we encourage the reliance on Jesus to help us through each day.
We use the Bible as a basis of all work within each session and this is supported with worksheets which are used to reinforce the stories and issues discussed. Memory verses enable the children to begin to learn of God’s promises to us. Our group is lively and it is fun searching the scriptures together and learning more about God, His plan for His people and us as individuals.
We follow a Scripture Union programme called Xtreme, which normally encompasses games, crafts, Bible readings and drama etc, with plenty of interaction and participation with the children. Normally in each class refreshments and a biscuit snack is given. There are about 8 children in a class which makes it a personable and friendly group.
