Delta FridayDelta Friday is a Drop-in Centre/Coffee Bar for people who are facing redundancy or unemployment as a result of the current economic climate. It’s called ‘Delta Friday’ because we wanted a name that was short, memorable and relevant. Δ delta is a symbol widely used to represent change in business and mathematics, and many people who are made redundant often go through a period of lots of changes in their lives. And it’s on Fridays, hence ‘Delta Friday’.
The aim is to provide people in the local community with somewhere to go and people to talk to at what can be a very difficult time. As well as free coffee, tea and other beverages, Delta Friday provides copies of national and local papers and free WiFi internet access to help customers in their search for jobs. Delta Friday is staffed by a team of volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience, some of whom have themselves been through times of redundancy and unemployment. The team will provide support where they can including help with writing CVs and applications plus providing details of other organizations that can give more specialist help and advice. The idea is not to compete but to complement and work alongside these other agencies and organizations in order to help those affected by the current economic climate.
Delta Friday is open from 10.00am to 12.00noon on Friday mornings at Loughton Baptist Church, Bradwell Road, Loughton Milton Keynes MK5 8AJ.
