Baptism
We believe baptism is a very special moment on the journey of faith. It demonstrates a believer’s identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a public declaration of commitment to Jesus and signifies the end of our old life and of being born again into new life with Christ. Baptism is also about receiving God's Spirit for service in the church and in the world.
Jesus set us an example as he himself was baptised.
The Bible tells us in Matthew 3:16-17, (New International Version)
As soon as Jesus was baptised, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
